Jennifer Lopez says her new book True Love isn't a tell all, but she told all in a sit-down with ET, getting candid about her children and splitting with Ben Affleck just days before their wedding date.

NEWS: Ben Affleck was J. Lo's 'First Real Heartbreak'

Before J. Lo and Marc Anthony split in 2011, the couple had two children together (twins Max and Emme, 6). J. Lo told ET's Nischelle Turner that her kids "saved her."

"They saved me by showing me what real love was," J. Lo explained. "It changed my perspective on love completely."

The 45-year-old singer has had her fair share of heartbreak. She had already been through two failed marriages (she split from chef Ojani Noa in 1998 and choreographer Cris Judd in 2003) before getting engaged to her Gigli co-star Ben Affleck in 2002. The two split in 2004, leading J. Lo to rekindle a romance with singer Marc Anthony, whom she wed later the same year. J. Lo and Marc divorced in 2011 after two children and nearly seven years of marriage. She started dating her most recent ex, dancer Casper Smart, in 2011.

While she discussed her failed relationships with Cris, P. Diddy and Marc in her book, what's most surprising is what she wrote about Ben.

NEWS: Marc Anthony Engaged to Shannon De Lima

"It felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest," she writes in True Love. "People do lots of things to anesthetize themselves in moments like these. Some people do drugs, some drink and some go out and party. I sought out comfort in another person, tried to find someone who could make me feel loved and wanted in my loneliest hours. And that was the moment when Marc reappeared in my life."

Today Marc, 46, is engaged to model Shannon de Lima, 27. According to Us Weekly, the couple are expected to say "I do" later this month in the Dominican Republic.

J. Lo actually sent the book to Marc before it was published to get his take. After reading it, he told her, "It is your journey. Go for it."

True Love is in stores now.
