It's going to be a big year for Benedict Cumberbatch. Just months after announcing his engagement to Sophie Hunter, the couple is expecting their first child.
Page Six reported early Wednesday morning that the 38-year-old Imitation Game actor's fiancee was a few months along in her pregnancy. After spotting a bit of a bump at the 26th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Jan. 3, ET confirmed the baby news.
"I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child," the actor's rep told ET. "They are both over the moon."
This past November, Cumberbatch and Hunter announced their engagement by taking an ad out in the U.K. newspaper The Times. "Mr. BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London," the announcement read.
This recent baby news shouldn't come as too much of a shock as the Golden Globe nominee did admit to London's Daily Mail that he was looking to settle down. "I would love to have children," he said back in 2013. "Everyone wants to know when I’m going to settle down and who is going to be Mrs. Cumberbatch. I can’t wait to do an interview like this and just talk about my child."
