Barbie is on a roll.
First, Mattel released an adorably hilarious new commercial that actually did seem like it could inspire young girls to be anything they wanted to be. Now, the company has partnered with Moschino for the Moschino Barbie, and the ad for the high fashion doll features the first-ever boy in a Barbie commercial.
If Moschino Barbie isn’t as recognizable as, say, Doctor Barbie or Teacher Barbie, she’s modeled after the clothing line that stars like Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, and Katy Perry have all donned. Or just know that she’s “so fierce,” according to this boy:
Honestly, we’re mostly just curious how long it took the director to teach these kids how to pronounce “Moschino.” Kudos to the company for finally realizing that little boys play with Barbie too, though.
The doll is sold out, but you can still get a $375 Moschino Barbie T-shirt.
“To me, it was so natural to have a boy playing with the Barbies as well as the girls,” Jeremy Scott, the creative director of Moschino, posted on Instagram.
“I am thrilled that it has started a national discussion about gender neutrality for kids toy,” the fashion designer added. “I think we should let kids play and be happy, after all, play is the work of childhood!”
