Laverne Cox revealed to ET that Tim Curry is helping her channel the character he made so iconic in the original Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The Orange Is the New Black star will portray Dr. Frank-N-Furter in a TV movie remake of the beloved 1975 film, and she couldn't be more thrilled. "It's just a dream come true. It's so amazing," she gushed at Saturday's SAG Awards. "Just getting to hang out with Tim Curry has been a dream come true. He is hilarious and [I'm] getting to talk to him about the character and my sort of take on it."
She's already started rehearsals on the film and was in the studio recording the songs right before the SAG Awards. Curry will serve as the Criminologist Narrator in FOX's remake.
Cox says Curry has been beyond supportive of her stepping into the role. "He wants me to do my own thing with it and it's really been that kind of thing," she shared. "We sort of talked about what he was thinking when he did it, and we talked about his intentions with certain moments."
The 31-year-old actress also revealed that she sang all the songs for him upon landing the role. "He said 'Bravo' at one point and I was just like [gasp]," she exclaimed. "For me, that movie when I saw it in college, changed my life."
She added, "To get to do this and to not only do it but do it with the person who created the role that I'm playing, I'm a really really blessed girl!
