The newest late-night host stopped by 'The Late Show' on Thursday.

New Daily Show host Trevor Noah paid a visit to The Late Show on Thursday night, and talked to host Stephen Colbert -- who began as a correspondent on the Comedy Central satire show before launching its follower The Colbert Report in 2005 -- about taking over for longtime host Jon Stewart.

Colbert assumed Late Show hosting duties last week following David Letterman's departure after more than 20 years in the Ed Sullivan Theater. Noah commiserated with Colbert on the especially big shoes they have to fill.

"Stepping into the seat of a legend of talk shows, that is crazy," Colbert, 51, laughed. "Who on earth would ever want to do that?"

"Every day I go 'What have I done?'" Noah agreed. "You can't live up to Jon Stewart. It's insane."

Noah shared some of the cryptic advice Stewart, 52, gave him about taking on the Comedy Central news satire.

"Jon is like a Jewish Yoda," the 31-year-old told Colbert. "He said The Daily Show is what The Daily Show should be for you to be the best show you can make."

The South African host, who started as a Daily Show correspondent in December 2014 and will begin his full-time hosting duties on Sept. 28, said Stewart also told him to "trust your discomforts."

Colbert also asked Noah, who is not a U.S. citizen, if the show will be different coming from an outsider’s perspective.

"I'm not an outsider," Noah said of living in New York City. "I suffer the same things that people suffer here."
