introduced moviegoers to the post-apocalyptic world featuring the Dauntless, Abnegation, Erudite and Candor – Insurgent promises to tear down the fictional dystopian Chicago world
. The latest featurette takes us behind the scenes, offering us an insight of what the highly-anticipated sequel has to offer. For one thing, Tris is more badass than ever!
Watch the video above to see Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Kate Winslet, and newcomers Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer in action.
Here are the four biggest revelations that caught our eyes:
1. Insight into the Amity, Candor and Factionless worlds
“The film begins with Tris and Four in a faction called Amity, “Shailene explains in the new featurette, adding, “They value compassion and peace and it’s not quite Tris’ mindset.” And as Ansel aka Caleb Prior, directly points out, “In Insurgent you also see Candor, you see factionless”
2. Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer fit in perfectly
Speaking of Amity, Octavia is taking on the role of Johanna, the speaker of the faction – you know, since they don’t believe in “leaders.” In the books, her character is described as having a scar running from her eye to her chin – it’ll be great to see how they make-up the Oscar winner.
As Theo explains, Naomi plays his mother, Evelyn Johnson-Eaton, who also happens to be the leader of the factionless. She’s ready for battle, as she’s declares in the preview, “We need more soldiers.”
The teaser promises more action than Divergent. Producer Lucy Fisher even admits, “Right away we were gonna start the movie with action, with Tris being chased from faction to faction and we never let up.”
Kate also chimed in about the amount of action viewers will get to see in the sequel, claiming, “It’s an exciting action-packed film with great performances.”
“That’s why you do an action film - so you can do fun stunts!”
4. Answers about that mystery box
We finally get some answers about that mystery box that appeared in the first Insurgent trailer. “What does Jeanine think is in that box?” Tris asks her brother.
“I don’t know but she’s testing Divergents.”
Author Veronica Roth has a brief explanation, saying, “The box takes a lot of my favorite scenes from the book and puts them in the same place at the same time.”
We get it, we get it. It’s hard to cram everything from a book into a two-hour film. It’ll be interesting to see how the box plays out on the big screen!
