Wedding bells are ringing for Cecily Strong after an engagement with no shortage of mishaps.

Buckle up -- because Cecily Strong's engagement story is far from smooth.

The Saturday Night Live alum, who starred on the late-night sketch comedy show between 2012 and 2022, revealed during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers Wednesday that she is officially set to wed.

"I got engaged," she told Meyers, her former SNL colleague. "You always said, ‘No one will ever love you, and you'll never get married,'" she quipped. "You were wrong!"

We would say jokes aside, but Strong's engagement story has more laughs ahead.

"It was not a surprise, but I am kind of a detective," the 40-year-old Schmigadoon! star told Meyers. "We talked about getting married and then one day he was like, 'I'm so inundated with emails and texts. Look at this,' and he showed me his phone, and the first text was from a friend and it said, 'How did it go? *Ring emoji.*'"

Continued the comedian, "And then I was like, 'Oh, oh no, should I?' and he went, ‘Did you see that?' and I was like, 'I could try very hard to lie but,' so then I knew."

Without a ring officially on her finger yet, Strong suggested another way to still make it a surprise -- at least, initially.

"I was like, 'Whenever you want to do it, that'll be the surprise,'" she recalled. "And then I had kind of a rough night in December, and I was like, 'Can I just wear the damn ring now?' And so that's how we got engaged."

But the mishaps did not stop there.

"I don't know my ring size," she said. "I buy like every sized ring, and so he took one of those, and it was like five sizes too big. I was wearing it on my index finger for a long time, not as a statement. It just would've fallen off."
