'Scandal'-'HTGAWM' Crossover: Here's Why Olivia Pope and Annalise Keating Team Up!

ABC

#HowtoGetAwayWithScandal airs March 1 on ABC.

The Scandal-How to Get Away With Murder crossover event is almost here!

We've hardly been able to contain our excitement since we found out that TGIT queens Olivia Pope and Annalise Keating would be joining forces, with just one question at the top of our minds: what brings these two together?

After weeks of speculation -- and Kerry Washington and Viola Davis staying especially tight-lipped on the topic -- we've finally got our answer. Just-released loglines of the episodes reveal that Annalise is trying to get her class action suit taken to the big leagues -- and who better to get it handled than Olivia Pope?

The logline for Scandal's episode, titled "Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself," reads: "In the midst of moving on from the White House, Olivia gets an unexpected visitor in criminal defense attorney Annalise Keating, who seeks her help in fast-tracking a judicial reform class action to the United States Supreme Court. However, after Olivia's recent fall from political grace, it’s going to be more challenging than ever to get the support they need."

Davis and Aja Naomi King will guest star on the episode, which is directed by Tony Goldwin.

The description for HTGAWM's "Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," meanwhile, reads: "As Annalise's class-action case hangs in the balance, a meeting with the esteemed Washington D.C. fixer, Olivia Pope, proves to be crucial in getting the opportunity to argue her case in the nation’s highest court. Meanwhile, Bonnie discovers concerning information pertaining to Simon that threatens to expose what really happened during the night he was shot."

Washington and Cornelius Smith Jr. will appear on that episode.

And judging by the crossover's newly-released trailers, the two-hour event is sure to be jam-packed with drama -- and an Olivia/Annalise faceoff. "This is my town, my game, my rules!" Olivia yells in the clip. Watch below:

While chatting with ET at the Golden Globes last month, Washington couldn't help but gush over Davis. "The fact that I get to do scenes with Viola Davis is such a dream come true because she's such a hero of mine. And we've done a lot of press together for Shondaland, but to be able to work together is pretty phenomenal," she said. "It is really wonderful to work with Viola Davis [and] it's really nice to work in an environment where women support women."
