Based off Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History, Versace: American Crime Story will focus on the murder of famed designer Gianni Versace in Miami by serial killer Andrew Cunanan in July 1997. Cunanan, who committed suicide a week later, was responsible for at least five other murders in the months leading up to the Versace’s murder. Cunanan’s motives were never revealed.

Production is set to begin in April before premiering in 2018, following the debut of the second installment of American Crime Story, which will center on Hurricane Katrina.
