The 28-year-old actor is the latest star to join Ryan Murphy's FX anthology series. The executive producer announced Haynes' casting on Instagram on Tuesday with a portrait shot of the actor with smeared red lipstick.

"Welcome to American Horror Story, Colton Haynes," Murphy captioned the shot. Haynes also reposted the pic, writing, "American Horror Story Season 7...Already feels like home :) So excited @mrrpmurphy."

Murphy previously revealed that the seventh season of AHS would be election-themed and has since given red, white and blue-colored "clues," including Billie Lourd's icy white hair and Evan Peter's blue-hued mane and now, Haynes' smeared red lipstick.
"There are only three people in the world who know what it is, which is [FX president and general manager] John Landgraf, [Fox Television Group chairman and CEO] Dana Walden and Sarah Paulson," Murphy shared of the plot for season seven at FX’s Television Critics Association press day in January.

Haynes isn't new to the Murphy world. Last year, the actor portrayed Tyler, a recurring character on season two of Scream Queens.
