"I honestly didn't know," Jones said when asked if she was aware of Monteith's struggles. "This year I worked a lot with Cory one-on-one and Cory was present."
The 49-year-old actress went on to describe Monteith's passing as a "loss for everyone involved."
"I love him and I still do," Jones said, fighting back tears. "I don't have a fond memory because every memory is fantastic."
This morning, Jones was nominated for her third consecutive Emmy in the category for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, and while she is still grieving the loss of her co-star, she is grateful for this acknowledgement.
"This is my 23rd year acting," said Jones. "And to be nominated the last three seasons on Glee says a lot about the writing and their trust in me, and I just couldn't be happier."
