Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre played host to an array of exciting performances and memorable events on Sunday like J.Lo's tribute to Celia Cruz, but the 2013 American Music Awards belonged to pop/country sensation Taylor Swift.
The 23-year-old songstress nabbed this year's top honors of Artist of the Year, setting an AMAs record for most individual wins in the category.
Reaping the reward of her immensely successful fourth studio album Red, Swift also took home a triad of other awards, including Favorite Country Album, Favorite Female Country Artist, and Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist.
Swift's numerous wins stole the spotlight from Rihanna, who received the inaugural Icon Award for her immense worldwide influence on pop music. The honor was presented to her by her mother, Monica Fenty.
Rihanna was nominated in two of the categories for which the "Sweeter Than Fiction" singer received awards (Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist) , but managed to swipe another award apart from the Icon Award, Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist, to add to her collection.
Justin Timberlake was also shorted an Artist of the Year award to place on his mantle, but he nevertheless won big on Sunday, taking home three awards, including Favorite Male Pop/Rock Artist, Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist, and Favorite Soul/R&B Album.
