Stars React to Emmy Nominations

This year's crop of Emmy nominees includes many familiar faces from previous years, but some new names also picked up their very first nods. Read on to find out how the stars are reacting to their nominations.

Alec Baldwin, who picked up his 11th Emmy nomination this year (Best Actor in a Comedy Series for 30 Rock), tells ET, "As the show enters its last season, I'm gratified to be nominated again by the Academy."

Sofia Vergara, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Modern Family for the third time, tweeted, "Gracias to everybody that loves Modern Family!! So much fun to be nominated again!! And gracias Modern Family!!"

Jon Cryer, nominated for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Two and a Half Men: "I was actually awake this morning when they announced the Emmy nominations thanks to my newfound need to pee several times a night. Finally, my enlarged prostate pays off!!"

Glenn Close, who picked up a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Damages: "I am thrilled to be recognized by the Academy and to share this category with such exciting and accomplished actresses. Damages has been the ride of a lifetime and I am honored to represent every single one of our extraordinary team. I would not be here without them, especially, KZK, our brilliant writers and my exquisite co-star, Rose Byrne. And I thank our wonderfully loyal and engaged audience who have never wavered in their love and support of our show."

Kevin Costner, who picked up a nomination for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role in Hatfields & McCoys: "Filming the Hatfields & McCoys was one of the most fulfilling and inspiring projects that I've had the opportunity to work on, and it was truly gratifying that audiences tuned in to see our interpretation of this classic American story.  To be recognized for our work by the members of Television Academy this morning is the cherry on top. I share this nomination with everyone who contributed to this project from the producers, cast and crew to the great team at History, who really stepped up to support the creative vision of the filmmakers."

Bill Paxton, who was also nominated for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Hatfields & McCoys: "I'm shocked and humbled by this Emmy nomination and excited for Kevin, Mare and Tom and all the Emmy nominations HM has received. I should have grown the beard a long time ago."

Mare Winningham, nomiated for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, also for Hatfields & McCoys: "Some projects just have a special magic, a chemistry of actors, of producers, of director and location. History's Hatfields & McCoys was one of those filming experiences. I didn't want to let go of it when it ended, and now I get to keep smiling in celebration with everyone involved."

Clive Owen, who's also nominated for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his portrayal of Ernest Hemingway in Hemingway & Gellhorn: "I am really thrilled to be nominated for Hemingway and Gellhorn. I had such a great time working with the brilliant Phil Kaufman and the wonderful Nicole Kidman."

Nicole Kidman, who is also nominated for Hemingway & Gellhorn (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie): Thank you Academy. I am so happy to share this nomination with Clive. It is a true acknowledgment of Martha Gelhorn's life and amazing work. Discovering and playing her, under the guidance and passion of the great Phil Kaufman, was a joy and a privilege."

Philip Kaufman, nominated for Outstanding Directing for Hemingway & Gellhorn: "When you work on a project for nine years, it's a fantastic feeling to see it rewarded with nominations and to see your cast and crew singled out for their excellent work.  It was a great experience because HBO was so supportive and backed us all the way. It's my first time working in television and this warm welcome is terrific."

Bryan Cranston, nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama, for Breaking Bad: "It's kinda like, alright I've received enough love -- I'm not entitled to this much love! But it's wonderful, really. I'm not one to throw a big bash for myself, so I'm going to go for a run -- I'm going to sweat. That will be my celebration. I'm very pleased, especially for Vince [Gilligan]!"

Connie Britton, nominated for Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, for American Horror Story: "The Emmy thing is such an elusive and wonderful thing because I realize every time I've been nominated, I've been completely shocked -- each time in a different way. American Horror Story was a really unique and special show, I felt so fortunate to be able to do it and to have this be the dividend from that is just really extraordinary." 

Loretta Devine, nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for a spot on Grey's Anatomy: "I could not believe it. I slept through the announcement thinking lightening would not possibly strike twice. Then my husband went on the Internet and there it was. I was nominated again. The phone was ringing my agent, manager and publicist congratulating me and the whirlwind was starting. I am overjoyed to be recognized by my peers and this past season Adele had to finally admit that she was sick and let go of Dr. Weber. It was all high, incredible drama. This is such an honor and now all I can do is jump into the all consuming spin of it all. I am overjoyed and excited. Oh my gosh, what will I wear?"

Maya Rudolph, nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live: "I had so much fun hosting - it was like coming home. Getting to go back and play with your friends... there's nothing better. Hosting SNL was my childhood dream, while other kids were playing princess I was doing impressions of Roseanne Roseannadanna. This is an amazing honor and one I share with Lorne, and all the incredible cast and writers of SNL."

Ed O'Neil, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Modern Family: "I am truly honored and grateful for the nomination, especially for a role and a show that I am so happy and proud to be a part of."

Christina Hendricks, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Mad Men: "I'm so honored to be nominated in this category of truly awe inspiring actresses. And thrilled Mad Men is recognized for the fifth time."

Betty White, who is nominated for Outstanding Host of a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Betty White's Off Their Rockers -- as well as for Outstanding Variety Special for Betty White's 90th Birthday: A Tribute To America's Golden Girl:"I'm blown out of my mind and I'm thrilled beyond words."

Damian Lewis, nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for HomelandtoldTHR: "You never take awards seriously until you're nominated. And then you take them very seriously. It's just nice to be part of the club."

Steve Buscemi, nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Boardwalk Empire. "It's good because the show was nominated and it always really helps with morale for the crew." he said

Jessica Lange, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for American Horror Story: "I want to thank the academy for honoring American Horror Story for all the incredible nominations. It's been wonderful to work on a show with such talented actors and the fabulous creative team of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and all the brilliant writers who make Constance such an interesting character to play."

Max Greenfield, nominated for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, for New Girl: "I walked into hair and makeup this morning and Paul Rudd, who's the star of the movie, turns to me and goes, 'Hey man, congratulations on being nominated for an Emmy.' What the f--- is going on with my life?" he toldThe Hollywood Reporter. "Two years ago I was auditioning for Zeke and Luther, and now I'm walking to hair and makeup and Paul Rudd is congratulating me on my Emmy nomination. I don't know what's happening."

Margaret Cho, nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for 30 Rock: "I'm so excited to have been nominated for an Emmy, especially for 30 Rock, which is an incredible show and also for playing a deranged and deceased world dictator who has divided the small country of my origin in two. That's the best part. I think that's what I'd call iron curtain irony."

Bill Hader, who picked up his third Emmy nomination when he was nominated this morning for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live, says, "It's a great honor, though there should be parentheses next to my name with all of the SNL writers. And now I have to kiss up to the cast members of Modern Family in hopes that they pull a Ving Rhames and give me their award when they win."

Eric Stonestreet, nominated for Supporting Actor in a Comedy, for Modern Family: "It feels great," Stonestreet said of his third consecutive Emmy nomination. "It feels really good. I never thought I'd be a three-time Emmy nominee. It always feels good to be nominated alongside the people you work with." 

Jimmy Fallon, nominated for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy for SNL: "So happy to get nominated! Can't wait to get back to the Late Night office and celebrate! But first I gotta leave this theatre and change out of this Batman costume."

Julianna Margulies, nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama, for The Good Wife: "I am so honored to be nominated for The Good Wife. The Academy has been very supportive of me over the years and my appreciation is boundless."

Travis Wall, nominated for Outstanding Choreography for his Dancing with the Stars routine Without You: "I can't believe that our dance company's (Shaping Sound) first performance on TV got an Emmy nomination. I am elated! It's amazing to have a nomination two years in a row but it's surreal to have this nomination with my best friends!"

Rob Corddry, nominated for Outstanding Special Class – Short-format Live-Action Entertainment Programs for Childrens Hospital: "We've checked it twice and apparently it's real. I'm pretty giddy to be honest. And I hope my cast and crew know how much they are directly responsible for this. Is it not cool to say I really hope we win? Don't answer."
