The Florence Foster Jenkins star was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award by Viola Davis at this year's Golden Globes, where she delivered a passionate, powerful speech that stopped many on Twitter and at the show dead in their tracks.
Celebs flocked to social media to react to the 67-year-old actress' moving words.
"There has never been anyone like Meryl Streep. I love her," tweeted Ellen DeGeneres.
Judd Apatow tweeted, "We will need a lot of people as clear and brave as Meryl Streep if we are to fight the corruption, bad ideas and lies of Donald Trump."
Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson, tweeted simply, "#MerylStreep, truth-teller."
"Meryl, you give me life," tweeted Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez.
