Kelly Rizzo knows what it's like to lose a loved one. Bob Saget's widow shared an emotional tweet on Wednesday in remembrance of her husband's close pal, Gilbert Gottfried, who died at age 67 earlier this week.
"Bob loved Gilbert so dearly, they had a special friendship," the travel blogger wrote alongside a picture Gottfried had previously posted on his Instagram of himself with Saget, Norm Macdonald, and Jeffrey Ross after Macdonald passed away in September 2021 at age 61. "As he did with everyone in this photo."
Rizzo went on to send thoughts to Ross who is mourning the loss of Gottfried just months after losing Saget, who died from accidental head trauma in January at age 65. "And sending my love to my wonderful friend Jeff as Gilbert’s loss is beyond painful for him," she wrote.
The Chicago native also had a sweet message for Gottfried's wife, Dara Kravitz. "Thinking of Dara, his amazing and strong wife right now," Rizzo wrote. "Much love & support to his family."
News of Gottfried's death was confirmed on his Twitter account on Tuesday with a statement that read, "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the true iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert's honor. Love, the Gottfried family."
It's no secret that Gottfried and Saget shared a close bond. Earlier this year, Gottfried spoke to ET about who Saget was not only as a person -- calling him very protective of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen twins -- but also what he meant to the stand-up comedy community.
"The people who knew him will remember him as a great guy," Gottfried said of Saget. "Really funny, really quick."
