The 'Carol' star rewore her Giorgio Armani Privé lace dress four years later.

The 71st Cannes Film Festival officially kicked off on Tuesday, and while many actresses stunned in couture creations on the red carpet, one in particular made heads turn for a particular reason.

Cate Blanchett, who presides as this year's Jury president, looked exquisite in a black lace Giorgio Armani Privé ball gown with crinoline lace and crystal-embroidered tulle at the festival's opening gala. The stunning piece, however, has been seen before when Blanchett wore it to the 2014 Golden Globes and won the award for Best Actress for her role in Blue Jasmine. Four years later, the two-time Oscar winner looks just as ravishing!

Blanchett opted for a similar look when restyling her gown. Her blonde tresses were pulled back in an elegant updo, her makeup was soft and angelic with a light pink lip, and she added some sparkle with Chopard statement earrings.

Black lace appeared to be a big trend for the opening gala. Penelope Cruz -- who premiered her and husband Javier Bardem's movie, Everybody Knows, that night -- looked spectacular in a Chanel gown that featured a sheer floral lining, full skirt and ruffled trimming. The Spanish actress also wore jewels from her collaboration with Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry.

Kristen Stewart, also on the Cannes jury, showed her edgy side in a Chanel tulle frock, which she paired with Chanel jewelry and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.
