Colin Firth, Matthias Schoenaerts Launch a Rescue Mission in 'The Command' Trailer (Exclusive)

The drama tells the true story of the KURSK submarine fiasco.

Colin Firth is no stranger to tackling a true story (he won his Academy Award for playing King George VI), and his latest film, The Command, tells the unforgettable saga of the K-1412 KURSK submarine fiasco, which sank in 2000 with 23 sailors trapped aboard. Matthias Schoenaerts (The Mustang) and Léa Seydoux (Bond 25) also star as one of the sailors fighting for survival and his wife, who battles bureaucratic obstacles back home.

"We have the equipment to bring those men to the surface," Firth's Commodore David Russell informs a resistant Russian admiral in the trailer, debuting on ET. "Time is of the essence. I implore you, accept our help."

The drama, from director Thomas Vinterberg (Oscar-nominated for The Hunt), premieres exclusively on DIRECTV on May 21 and is in theaters and available On Demand on June 21.
