Ralph Lauren

By Paige Feigenbaum

6:00 AM PDT, July 27, 2012

Athletes from around the globe will proudly march in the parade of nations in the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England on Friday night. Ralph Lauren has outfitted Team USA in red, white, and blue uniforms to wear in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as informal wear to sport in the Athlete Village. Take a look at some of the sketches and the looks they eventually inspired, modeled by esteemed members of Team USA. The uniforms have stirred controversy for being manufactured in China. Ralph Lauren issued a statement in response, saying in part, "We are honored to continue our relationship with the United States Olympic Committee… Ralph Lauren promises to lead the conversation within our industry and our government to address the issue to increase manufacturing in the United States. We have committed to producing the Opening and Closing ceremony Team USA uniforms in the United States that will be worn for the 2014 Olympic Games."
