Ethereal Dresses

Kerry Washington and Claire Danes both looked angelic in their ethereal dresses, Washington in flowery Marchesa and gold jewelry, and Danes in shimmering Armani Prive.
Burgundy Dresses

Burgundy dresses were also the rage at the Emmys this year, with Kaley Cuoco looking the best of the bunch in a gorgeous strapless Vera Wang gown. Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery also looked outstanding in a two-tone Prada halter gown, and Heidi Klum was polarizing as usual, rocking a Versace dress complete with a sequin collar.
Sheer Gowns

The ladies weren't shy to show some skin this year, with sheer dresses also dominating the red carpet. Leslie Mann showed some leg in this flattering J. Mendel chevron gown, and Kate Mara also turned heads in a J. Mendel dress with a striped sheer top. But Julianne Hough was the most scandalous of the bunch, rocking a practically see-through Jenny Packham gown.
Goth Lipstick

As Dianna Agron and Ashley Benson recently showed, dramatically dark lipstick is no longer just for the most daring dressers in Hollywood. Modern Family's Sarah Hyland and American Horror Story's Lily Rabe both looked fantastic sporting deep burgundy lipstick.
