Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka basically have the first family of Halloween. Ever since welcoming twins Gideon and Harper in 2011, the adorable dads have pretty much schooled us with their absolutely spooktacular family costumes. See all of the boo-tiful looks!
Too sweet! 2020 may be a year of sheer mayhem, but that didn't stop NPH's family from finding a little magic just in time for Halloween. After all, does it get any more delicious than scoring a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory? "Oompa, loompa, doompety doo! We’ve got a family photo for you!" the New Mexico native wrote on Instagram. "This year, may you invent an October 31st that is spirited, safe and scrumptious. Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple. Happy Halloween from the Burtka-Harris Crew!"
NPH's family doubled down on art! "Welcome to the 2019 Burtka-Harris Boo-seum of Art. Audio guides are available in the gift shop. #happyhalloween @dbelicious," the former How I Met Your Mother star captioned an Instagram photo of the four in a decadent frame, with Harper as Frida Kahlo, Gideon as Andy Warhol, David as Salvador Dali and Neil as Pablo Picasso.
The family really went all out last year, taking a picture-perfect photo of their Disney's Haunted Mansion looks. "Welcome, foolish mortals. We hope your Halloween is happily haunted, but heed this warning: beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts! @nph," David wrote on Instagram.
Neil and David left the kids at home when they attended Heidi Klum's annual Halloween party as Westley and Inigo Montoya from 1987's The Princess Bride.
"Hurry, hurry! Step right up and behold the Burtka-Harris Halloween Carnival of Curiosities! #happyhalloween @dbelicious," HPH wrote of the family's incredible circus costumes. The creepy but pretty perfect looks showed the twins as a strongman and bearded lady, David as a clown and Neil as the ringmaster.
The fabulous family went Old Hollywood in 2016, taking on the real-life famous figures Groucho Marx, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. They even took their yearly Halloween photo in a classic theater!
May the Force be with them! The family rocked their Star Wars looks -- and poses! -- dressing up as Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.
"Happy Halloween from Gotham City!!" Neil captioned the family's comic book costumes based on the '60s version of Batman, with the How I Met Your Mother star going all out as The Riddler, his husband as The Joker, Gideon as Batman and Harper as Batgirl.
It was a fairy-tale Halloween when the whole family dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland. Harper got to play the titular role of Alice, while her brother went as the White Rabbit and her dads portrayed Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
The family looked pretty adorable in their second looks of Halloween 2013: classic creepy characters! Neil was a dead ringer for Frankenstein, while Gideon howled as the Wolfman, Harper was a scream as the Bride of Frankenstein and David made a bloody good Dracula.
Harper's smile says it all! This precious crew made everyone happy when they shared their Wizard of Oz costumes, with Harper all dolled up as Dorothy, Neil on a silver streak as the Tin Man, Gideon warming our hearts as the Lion and David flashing a big grin as the Scarecrow.
They're never gonna grow up! David got to play Peter Pan, while Neil took on the role of Captain Hook and their cute kids got dolled up as Tinkerbell and Mr. Smee.
