‘Cheer’ star Monica Aldama, who coaches the squad at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, opened up to ET’s Deidre Behar after learning the Netflix series was nominated for six Emmys! Monica shared her reaction to the exciting news, how the squad is feeling about being recognized in such a prestigious way and the celebrity she hopes to run into at the awards ceremony. The cheer coach also weighed in on how the cast is doing in quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic, telling ET that Lexi and Gabi have both shown tremendous growth with their confidence and leadership. Monica shared how the pandemic affected their cheer season and how they plan to start training again with new precautionary measures in place. As for whether there will be a season 2 of the beloved docu-series, Monica said she’s ready to film more and explained why it’s such an enriching experience.
