Contagion - starring Laurence Fishburne, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard and Kate Winslet - amassed $24 million in its debut over the weekend, surpassing The Help which took in $9.4 million.
Warrior premiered to the tune of $4.8 million, landing in third, while Nick Swardson's comedy Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star had a considerably disappointing opening, pulling in $1.2 million for the weekend.
