'The Three Musketeers' Rewind

Before The Three Musketeers 3D, there was 1993's The Three Musketeers – and several versions of the Alexandre Dumas classic before that, dating back all the way to the '20s with Douglas Fairbanks. We were on the set with Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Oliver Platt and a fresh-eyed Chris O'Donnell as they took on the swashbuckling tale. Check out our vintage interviews!

"Candy bars. That's about it. Three Musketeer candy bars," joked O'Donnell when asked what he knew of the classic 19th century novel by Dumas.

"I loved all the swashbuckling and swordfighting," said Kiefer of the previous Musketeer films. "I thought Burt Lancaster was terribly cool."

"As a kid I remember they were marvelous because they kind of tore the lid off of period movies," said Oliver about the early '70s versions directed by Richard Lester.

Directed by Stephen Herek (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Mr. Holland's Opus), the 1993 The Three Musketeers also starred Rebecca de Mornay, Julie Delpy, Gabrielle Anwar and Tim Curry as the evil Cardinal Richelieu.
