ET confirms that a stuntman was killed and another was seriously injured on the set of the Sylvester Stallone action sequel The Expendables 2.

A rep for the production tells ET that the accident happened in an explosion on the set yesterday afternoon while the movie's second unit stunt team was filming on a dammed reservoir called Lake Ognyanovo in the southwestern part of the country. The movie's main unit was shooting about 2.5 hours away, according to the film's unit publicist.

The names of the stuntmen are not yet being released, but Nu Image/Millennium Films released a statement: "It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident."

Stallone's team of top action heroes that included Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren – plus Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger – all return for The Expendables 2 alongside new expendable-types Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris.

In response to the tragic news, Schwarzenegger tweeted, "Everyone I met on the stunt team on The Expendables 2 was a joy to work with. My thoughts & prayers are with the families and the crew."

Directed by Simon West, The Expendables 2 shoots into theaters August, 2012.
