The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco joined Joe Jonas, Jennifer Morrison, Busy Phillips and other stars in Beverly Hills on Tuesday to announce the People's Choice Awards for 2012.
Among the nominees this time around were Justin Bieber (Favorite Male Artist), Kim Kardashian (Favorite TV Celeb Reality Star), Daniel Radcliffe (Favorite Movie Actor, Favorite Movie Star Under 25) and Katy Perry -- who garnered a whopping seven nominations across three categories. In a first this year, fans used the write-in option to secure an official nomination for Nina Dobrev for Favorite TV Drama Actress for her role in The Vampire Diaries.
Prior to this morning's announcement, fans cast more than 40 million votes to pick new categories and determine nominees for the annual awards show celebrating fan favorites in TV, movies and music. Voting begins today for all 43 categories and will end on December 6, 2011. The winners will be revealed during a live broadcast of the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 9 p.m. on CBS. Kaley Cuoco will host the show and Mark Burnett is the Executive Producer.
Top TV and film nominees included Glee, which was nominated for seven awards including six talent nominations and one show nomination for Favorite Network TV Comedy; and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, which is up for nine awards, including Favorite Movie.
The People's Choice Awards 2012 will see the return of the Favorite Movie Star Under 25 category and the addition of a brand new category, Favorite Movie Icon. The nominees for Favorite Movie Icon include: George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, Robert DeNiro and Tom Hanks.
Now in its 38th year, the People's Choice Awards continues to be the only major awards show in which the public directly chooses the categories, nominees and winners.
