Two massive arks were constructed for the production, which is near completion – one in a Brooklyn soundstage, and one berthed in the water in Oyster Bay, Long Island. The Los Angeles Times reports that Oyster Bay is very much in the path of Hurricane Sandy, with local flooding and wind gusts of up to 63 mph reported in the area. The outdoor ark was not intended to be seaworthy and was partially dismantled over the last several days, but still has a few shooting days left.
With Russell Crowe as the title character, Noah follows the biblical figure as he's given a divine mission: to build an ark to save creation from the coming flood. Set to sail into theaters in 2014, the film also stars Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson.
