When asked why he shot the sort-of-sequel to Knocked Up in his real life Los Angeles neighborhood, Apatow revealed, "It's sad that so much production leaves California. I make up ways to make it seem wrong to go out of state. I always try to think of how to stay close to the house. The kids go to school, I don't like taking them to Louisiana."
Following that very commendable response, Apatow also revealed a much more hilarious perk that stemmed from filming This Is 40 just ten houses away from his own. "It was very fun to be close by, because you could go home to poop," the director laughed.
