The Sam Raimi-directed fantasy (starring James Franco) pulled in $80.3 million, easily knocking off Jack the Giant Slayer, which fell to second place with $10 million.

This should come as good news to Disney, who (according to Variety) is already working on an Oz sequel.

Colin Farrell's action crime-drama Dead Man Down also premiered over the weekend, taking in $5.4 million for fourth place, while Identity Thief ($6.3 million) and Snitch ($5.1 million) landed in third and fifth, respectively.
