Tyrese & Luda Preview 'Fast & Furious 6' Banter

By

Tyrese and Ludacris have been friends for over a decade now, since they began shooting their first Fast & Furious film together, 2 Fast 2 Furious. Now that they've bonded over the years, they say their on-screen chemistry is supreme, which they previewed as they were interviewed.

Because the two have known each other extensively and have built a friendship away from the Fast & Furious franchise, they are very comfortable with one another, which is grounds for some playful banter between the two.

"I'm excited for my fans to see how much I rag on Tyrese's character and how much I make fun of his forehead," Ludacris said in an interview in London. "...The dimensions of Big Ben in the background are good dimensions for a clock, but do you see how big the goddamn clock is?"

Although the jokes were made in the film, Tyrese says he's not keen on them because they could carry over into his real life.

"I don't like the forehead jokes...because it's actually going to have people meeting me and then looking up at my forehead all of a sudden," the 34-year-old singer said. "I think the dimensions of my forehead actually go well with my head."

As a result of their familiarity with each other, the duo revealed that the majority of the jokes their characters utter in the film were their own adlibs, including the jokes about Tyrese's forehead.

"If you are able to see 80 percent of the jokes that were cracked [in the film] on paper, I'd pay you everything I got in my account," Tyrese divulged. "We get to the set, we see things, we see the energy of the scene, the set, and then the jokes, the funny, the moment just kind of ends up happening in the moment."

With the upcoming Fast & Furious 6, Tyrese and Ludacris have now worked on three Fast & Furious films together since 2002.

The franchise's four core actors (Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Paul Walker, and Michelle Rodriguez) have been working together even longer—since production of the first film commenced production at the turn of the century.

Ludacris holds that becoming such a close-knit group over the years has made it easier to film each sequel.

"I think that's part of the reason our chemistry on screen was so good because off screen we really do get a chance to know each other," the 35-year-old rapper said. "We're actually genuine friends and we feel like a family, and then when we come together it just makes it that much more comfortable for all of us to work together on screen."
