Meyer Dishes on 'The Host' Cast's Hot Chemistry

By

Stephenie Meyer fans were thrilled when her novel The Host was finally released as a feature film in March, and now in this exclusive clip from the film's Blu-ray Combo Pack out today, the Twilight author dishes on the intense chemistry between Saoirse Ronan (Melanie Stryder/Wanda) and her two leading men, Max Irons (Jared Howe) and Jake Abel (Ian O'Shea).

"I was involved in the casting with the guys, which was good. It's important that we all had chemistry and worked well together," Ronan, 19, says. "And it was one of those things where they just left the room and [director Andrew Niccol] and I kind of looked at each other and went, 'You can't get anyone else. It has to be these two.'"

Meyer agrees, especially when observing Ronan and Irons' steamy chemistry.

"Max and Saoirse have a very physical vibe," she says. "The chemistry was just unbelievable -- and he's just very expressive. He's just able to do so much without saying a word."
