With the Harry Potter film franchise officially over, its three main stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have scattered to the four winds with the specific intent to broaden their cinematic horizons and shrug off their Hogwarts scarves for good. The first trailer for CBGB starring Alan Rickman has arrived, and it features Grint sporting a dog collar as '70s punk guitarist Cheetah Chrome. What would Professor Snape think of Ron Weasley now?
The story of the fabled New York City Bowery dive that transformed into a music mecca for up-and-coming rockers ranging from The Ramones, Dead Boys and Iggy Pop to The Police, Talking Heads and Blondie, CBGB stars Rickman as Hilly Krystal, the infamous owner who initially wanted to open a country & bluegrass venue but ended up changing his tune and showcasing a reported 50,000 bands at the birth of the punk movement. His one demand was that they all must play their own original music.
Watch the amusing trailer for a glimpse of Grint's punked-out performance along with other Hollywood favorites taking on what ultimately became rock royalty. Directed by Randall Miller (Nobel Son, Bottle Shock), CBGB co-stars Johnny Galecki, Ashley Greene, Donal Logue, Malin Akerman, Justin Bartha, Stana Katic, Taylor Hawkins, Joel David Moore, Mickey Sumner, Freddy Rodriguez, Ryan Hurst and Bradley Whitford.
