In a matter of a few years, Chris Hemsworth has rapidly established himself as a lead actor, most notably holding the titular role in Thor. Before he stars in yet another film, let's take a look at the Australian actor's backstory.

The 30-year-old actor, who was born in Melbourne, began working on the Australian soap opera Home and Away in 2004 as a character named "Kim."

In pursuit of his dreams of becoming a Hollywood actor, Hemsworth moved to the U.S. and landed himself a role in the first film of the recent Star Trek revival after months of searching for work.

A few films later, he secured his first major starring role as the titular character in Thor, which proved to launch his acting career.
