Bonham Carter's a Spinster in 'Great Expectations'

This has been a good week for fans of the wildly-talented Helena Bonham Carter. First, we got a glimpse of the illustrious actress taking on the role of another Hollywood icon, Elizabeth Taylor, and now we get to see that same beauty married by a life of sadness and obsession in the new trailer for Mike Newell's adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations.

Bonham Carter plays the mysterious Miss Havisham, a fabulously wealthy spinster who, when she was young, was left at the alter by the conman she had fallen in love with. Never being able to move past this betrayal and embarrassment, she wears her wedding dress for the remainder of her life and becomes a recluse.

Bonham Carter knows how to play mentally disturbed, and she does it with such majestic ease in this new trailer.
