Hordes of humans will descend upon Universal Studios Hollywood starting this Friday and through November 2 to get the bejeezus scared out of themselves at Halloween Horror Nights -- just for fun! ETonline got a sneak peek at some of the cool new creatures that will be inhabiting the theme park and those scary mazes, and insight into just how the behind-the-scenes makeup masters manage to crank out approximately 500 ghouls a night with their "assembly line of gore."
This year's Halloween Horror Nights is expanding its scope of terror by bringing guests to isolated production movie and television sets located on the famed Universal backlot to experience the new Walking Dead maze along with the debut of Black Sabbath: 13 3D, based on the legendary rock band's new album 13 -- "a nightmarish landscape of doom, where they will traverse horrifying graveyards, twisted madhouses and bone-chilling battlefields ... and find themselves face to face with a heart-stopping Lucifer and his bride, blood-soaked dead bodies and bubbling pools of 'radioactive water.'"
Other haunted attractions will include Evil Dead: Book of the Dead, inspired by the recent remake of the Sam Raimi cult classic, and Insidious: Into The Further, based on the 2010 horror thriller and its upcoming sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2.
Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights begins on Friday, September 20, running on 21 select nights through November 2. And for those who can't wing their way to the West Coast for the ultimate scare, Universal Orlando will also host their own Halloween Horror Nights 23, starting on the same date, featuring a live-action haunted house experience based on An American Werewolf in London. Hoooowwwwooorrrrr!!!
