Bruckheimer's Hollywood Success: It's All a Dream

From Pirates of the Caribbean and CSI to Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, Flashdance and The Amazing Race, uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer's career-spanning work over 40 years has made him one of the most legendary producers in Hollywood. Now, his incredible legacy is being immortalized in a new, visually-arresting coffee-table book: Jerry Bruckheimer - When Lightning Strikes: Four Decades of Filmmaking, and he's talking about his career and influences with ET's Rocsi Diaz.

"I can't believe I'm here. I can't believe I've been doing it for 40 years. I can't believe the success that I've had. It's all a dream," Bruckheimer tells Rocsi. "I think somebody's going to wake me up one day and say you'd better start over again, and this never happened."

With a foreward by Bruckheimer's frequent creative collaborator Johnny Depp, Jerry Bruckheimer - When Lightning Strikes: Four Decades of Filmmaking commemorates the uber-producer's entire career so far, from his early years in advertising, all the way through to his most recent blockbusters, with inside stories behind the projects written by Bruckheimer's VP of Publicity, Michael Singer, who has worked beside the producer in deserts, on tropical islands, and at every conceivable filming location in between.

The prolific producer, whose films have sold over 16 billion tickets, says that he feeds off the writers, directors and staff that he works with, citing the late director David Lean as one of his biggest influences. "My success is the people I've worked with," he explains. "I'm just so lucky that I got to work with these talented individuals and they made me look good."
