The book-turned-movie follows the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear, voiced by Firth, with a passion for all things British. He travels to London in search of a home, and after finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, he meets the kind Brown family (Bonneville and Hawkins), who read the label around his neck: "Please look after this bear. Thank you."

The couple offer the lovable bear a temporary haven, but his luck soon changes when this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.
