Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the 69-year-old star is confirmed to appear in the highly anticipated sequel, which also will feature R2-D2 -- but no other cast members have been officially announced. On April 2, Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn revealed that cameras have already begun rolling and most of the cast is set. The world is now just waiting for official word on who will be in the movie, as well as if Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams will indeed reprise their original Star Wars roles.

Of course, Mayhew played Han Solo's Wookiee sidekick in all three original Star Wars films -- A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi -- between 1977 and 1983, and then returned to the series for an appearance in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
