The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, influenced many music stars, including Mick Jagger. That's why Mick is the driving force for the new movie Get On Up about Brown's life.

"Every rock singer knows these James Brown songs," said Mick Jagger. "It's part of our language."

Brain Grazer produced the film, in theaters August 1, which takes a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown (played by 42 star Chadwick Boseman), taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Spanning from Brown's youth in the 1930s all the way up to the 1990s, the drama co-stars Viola Davis (as Susie Brown, James Brown's absentee mother) and Dan Aykroyd (as Ben Bart, Brown's longtime, at times contentious manager), as well as Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter and Jill Scott.
