The film follows an immortal witch hunter, played by Diesel, who must team up with – you guessed it – a witch (Leslie), in order to save all of New York City from being destroyed by a villainous coven.
The mismatched buddy-cop genre has been dwindling in recent years, and by replacing the cops with supernatural beings, it could infuse a new life into the motif.
No details have yet to be released about the nature of Wood's character in the film.
The Last Witch Hunter will be directed by Breck Eisner – who helmed such projects as Sahara and the 2010 horror remake The Crazies - from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who created the upcoming Luke Evans-led Dracula Untold and Gods Of Egypt.
No word on when the film goes into production, but many are speculating that it will be released sometime in 2016.
