By Rosalyn Oshmyansky
Just when you thought you were reading the same story as last week, Guardians of the Galaxy wins again!
Guardians of the Galaxy is the movie of the summer according to its box office sales. In another weekend, this movie is on top and leading the way for other movies to try and compete with its record sales.
This weekend was slow, but the film still generated about $10 million in ticket sales. Worldwide, this film has grossed an impressive $586 million and $294.5 of that is domestic.
The Marvel film starring Chris Pratt has been number one the past four weeks.
Just last week, it was the highest grossing film of 2014.
As its main competition for the top spot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles takes the second spot at $6.5 million. The Ninja Turtles have also had a good summer ranking in over $300 million worldwide. Just one month ago, this film made $65 million in its first weekend. Despite its success, not everyone loved this movie, and so Megan fox had a message for the haters.
Coming in at third, If I Stay made $5.8 million. With a production budget of $11 million, the film has surpassed that amount with an estimated domestic total of almost $40 million just a few weeks in. Chloe Grace Moretz
talked about the movie hitting close to home.
Let's Be Cops is remaining consistent in fourth place with $5.4 million. The fake cops comedy has made an impressive $66.5 million domestically so far.
A new film makes the cut for the top five this week. The November Man ranks higher this weekend with $4.2 million after opening in sixth last weekend. The spy thriller stars Pierce Brosnan and is about an ex-CIA operative who is brought back on a personal mission and is involved in a deadly plot involving high level CIA officials and the Russian president-elect.
In case you missed it, Pierce Brosnan gave an emotional tribute this past Friday at the Stand Up to Cancer telethon.
