Bette Midler Wants a 'Hocus Pocus' Sequel, So What's the Hold Up?
By Jackie Willis
Bette Midler has an assignment for all those hoping for a Hocus Pocus sequel.
The 68-year-old diva is asking fans of the witchy film to rise up and contact Disney about making a sequel to the 1993 movie. This all started when Midler answered a question on Reddit as to whether she'd be open to reprising her role as the witch Winifred. "You have to go to send in your cards to the Walt Disney company," she wrote. "The ball's in their court."
Showing how serious she is about the sequel, the acclaimed singer/actress added, "Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are willing to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company."
Before signing off, Midler told her fans, "You have been SO adorable. This has been most enlightening. SISTAHS!"
BuzzFeed's Jarett Wieselman confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that Sarah Jessica Parker is open to a second movie. "Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy have both said they'd make a Hocus Pocus sequel. @SJP, you in?" Wieselman tweeted.
The Sex and the City star responded: "Yep. I'm In."
This past year, Thora Birch (Dani Dennison) and Kathy Najimy (Mary of the Sanderson Sisters) reunited for a Hocus Pocus reunion, 20 years after the premiere of the wildly popular movie.
