Matthew McConaughey went through a full body transformation for his latest role in Gold, and ET has a first look.
The Oscar winner shaved his head and packed on a few pounds in his midsection to play a down-on-his-luck underachiever in the drama that's already getting award buzz.
The epic tale, based on a true story, follows gold prospector Kenny Wells (McConaughey), as he teams up with an eager geologist, Michael Acosta (Edgar Ramirez), for an amazing journey to find gold in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia.
After stumbling upon the biggest gold find in history, Wells and Acosta quickly learn that getting the gold is only half the journey. The real challenge is keeping it.
"The story for me is really about what a man will do, what Kenny Wells will do, to keep his dream alive," McConaughey says. "And he'll go all the way."
Gold, also starring Bryce Dallas Howard, opens Dec. 25.
