Sinead O'Connor is opening up about what killed her 16-day marriage to fourth husband Barry Herridge.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer tells Britain's The Sun tabloid that her recent drive-through wedding in Las Vegas was doomed from the start. "It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us, and I saw him crushed. The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man."

O'Connor, 45, also elaborated on how she and Herridge, 38, went on a search for cannabis on their wedding night that went wrong. "We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous," she told The Sun. "I wasn't scared -- but he's a drugs counselor. What was I thinking?" She also added: "Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened -- that kind of messed everything up a bit, really."

The singer told The Sun she doesn't think she'll be dating anyone for awhile.

Shortly after her breakup with Herridge, O'Connor wrote on her personal blog: "Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over, the marriage was kyboshed by the behavior of certain people in my husband's life. And also by a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage."
