Carly Rae Jepsen has enjoyed one of the most amazing years in music, but she tells ET Canada that all her success just makes her want to strive even more.

In a recent interview with ET Canada's Roz Weston at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas, the 27-year-old Call Me Maybe singer said she still "feels a definite desire to prove more" and does not mind that her musical success peaked later than with some other artists.

"It would really suck to have it all happen too young and not feel like you got to spend your life doing it," Carly said. "So for me, I knew that meant a lot of hard work, and then whatever would happen would happen."

The star -- who will head from her performances in the Bahamas to join superstar Justin Bieber on his European tour -- also revealed how lucky she feels to be with her boyfriend, singer/songwriter Matthew Koma. "I've been very, very blessed in that part of my life," Carly said about her romantic relationships. But she also added: "It takes two for things like that to work."
