"There were times that I said, 'Damn, I wish I could have said it exactly like that'," the 83-year-old producer praised of Brandon, who plays a young and ambitious version of Berry amidst his discovery of Diana Ross and The Supremes in the '60s. "[Brandon] is phenomenal."

The living legend, who wrote the musical passion project featuring classic songs of the era, gave our Rocsi Diaz the royal tour alongside his talented doppelganger.

opens on Broadway on April 14, 2013. The show has been in preview since March 11, selling more than $1,000,000 in ticket sales for its first week.
