Tonight Alive Recalls First LA Memory
The members of Tonight Alive have come along way from playing together in their parent's garages in the Sydney suburbs or finding their sound playing songs in the local music scene. The band has been one of the top drawing acts on the Vans Warped Tour for the last two years and their new album, The Other Side, debuted at #43 on Billboard's top 200.
I recently caught up with front woman Jenna McDougall and guitarist Whakaio Taahi to talk about the eventful last couple years since they recorded their first album What Are You So Scared Of? in Los Angeles in 2011.
"It was the first time we ever left the country together so it was a blast," Jenna recalls of the first time the band visited the City of Angels.
Soon after their debut album dropped the group found themselves back on the road, penning their second album as they went.
"It was really cool. It was a really challenging two years of our lives but [we] got through it together and it gave us the best album we've ever written," Jenna explains.
Two years later, Tonight Alive is entertaining fans around the world with new material and rock-solid stage presence. And still they've got plenty more to offer in the years to come.
