Taylor Swift is the Closest Thing To Michael Jackson Today Says That Other Guy From Fun.
Jack Antonoff, of fun. and dating Lena Dunham fame, spoke to GQ about his new, awesome, don't-call-it-a-side project, Bleachers, when he was asked what music has been speaking to him lately..
In a response that would have so not been okay right after the 2009 MTV Awards, Antonoff said, "I love Yeezus. I think it's one of the coolest-sounding things ever. And I think Taylor Swift is one of the best songwriters ever."
Antonoff then doubled down on the praise, saying, "Taylor Swift is cool, because she's the closest thing today that hearkens to Michael Jackson—to great, great pop music."
Now, Taylor Swift is a bonafide pop megastar. This is in no way meant to discredit her contributions to the American songbook, but... come on! Michael Jackson is the King of Pop! A legend!
To be fair, we've proven time and time again we love Taylor Swift. We're not saying Jack Antonoff is wrong.
