Talk about better late than never!

It was announced today that Maroon 5 will finally make their VMA performance debut during the live broadcast August 24th. ET’s Rocsi Diaz was on site exclusively with Adam Levine while shooting a promo video for the MTV awards show.

The band will be performing their latest single, Maps, but there’s also a rumor going around that Adam’s fellow Voice co-coach Gwen Stefani may be joining them on stage as well.

“I'm not going to tell you, listen, it's the VMA's,” Levine told Rocsi. “Would the VMA's be special if Elton John was like, telling an interviewer I'm doing a song with Eminem? No. Because it was a surprise and it was badass.”

Considering they've been pumping out hit after hit since 2004, it’s hard to believe this will be their first time ever performing on the VMA stage! Not to mention they've actually only taken home one moon man ten years ago for Best New Artist in 2004, and it turns out they weren't even at the show to accept the award in-person because they were out on tour at the time with John Mayer.

Thankfully, this fun fact didn't get swept under the rug and Rocsi gave the front man a chance to re-live the moment and give the acceptance speech he would have given all those years ago.
