Ariana Grande made headlines earlier this month when she told UK magazine Attitude that her new song "Break Your Heart Right Back" was about the 21-year-old singer getting cheating on with another guy, but in a new interview with ET's Rocsi Diaz, she sets the record straight on her controversial comments.

"It's about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy. That's a very fun concept. It's one of my favorites on the album, and it's really funny because I believe it has happened to me. I'm not 100 percent positive, but I'm 99.9 percent positive," she originally told Attitude.

But Ariana is now clearly defensive when the quote is brought up.

"People took my quote and made a headline about it -- I know what y'all do," she tells ET. "They twisted it though ... I never said my ex. It wasn't even an ex really, we were sort of dating for a minute. It wasn't a big deal."

Still, she stands by her belief that getting cheated on with a guy rather than getting cheating on with another girl is preferable.

"It was kind of funny. I wasn't like, heartbroken over it. I was like, 'Ok, work,'" she says. "I think it's less offensive. I think it's great. I'd be like, 'Great for you.' But if it was a girl I'd be like, 'Ok that kind of sucks,' you know what I mean? ... Either way it's not cool, but I'd be less upset if it were a guy."
