The couple that dresses together, stays together … right?

PDA is so last year, it was all about the matching get ups at the VMA’s last night and the couples definitely got the memo.

Adam Levine and his new wife Behati Prinsloo crushed it in matching leather looks. The night was particularly special because not only was it their first red carpet appearance as a married couple, it was actually also Maroon 5’s first time performing at the awards show!

Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks stood out in the crowd with their all white ensembles. The "Talk Dirty" singer was up for two Moonmen, Best Pop Video and Best Choreography. Though he didn't take home the trophy in either category, when Entertainment Tonight’s Rocsi Diaz and special correspondent Tyler Oakley caught up with Jason on the red carpet, it seemed like winning would have just been an added bonus because he was already so excited to attend the show.

"I've been watching this show since I was a kid, every single year," he said. "Look at the energy this year. I feel like this is the best carpet we've ever been on because we've got the energy of the audience right here!"

Of course, the award for best dressed matching duo has to go to Katy Perry and Riff Raff. While they are just friends (Riff Raff contributed to the remix of Perry’s "This Is How We Do"), all eyes were on these two from the moment they stepped out of their Lamborghini in all denim get ups inspired by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s infamous jean outfits from 2001.

Turns out, B.Spears actually approves of the throwback look. Before the show, Katy tweeted Britney.

And she got the pop princesses stamp of approval!
